One or more of our family members have a birthday in every month except January. With Christmas over and no parties to plan, you would think we would take a month off. No way! (Kim says...) My parents live on thirty acres in Texas. My sisters and their families joined me, my husband and son for some fun on the farm. By day we rode on four wheelers and even played in some rare Texas snow. At night we settled in and let the kids have a sleep over. They got to pick out a movie and had popcorn and cokes. Since we don't let the kids have much junk food or soft drinks, this was a real treat. In our family we have learned that we, as adults, set the atmosphere for the kids. If we make something special, like a sleep over, it turns out to be exactly that...special. We set out to make every moment special. Time that could have otherwise been wasted with kids running wild, arguing and getting into trouble, was instead time spent making memories. (CJ says...) January marks the start of a brand new year and I am excited about this one. Along with working on some new themes to add to the site, I have enjoyed doing projects with my two year old grandson. Never think a two year old is too young to enjoy some fun craft time. Just ask Elijah! Spending time with children is important to them but also for us. Sometimes children teach us more than we teach them. Tonight I made Elmo cup cakes with Eli, not for a party, just for the fun of it. Pretty! he said when they were finished. And...they were. Then we made an Elmo paper plate art project. It didn't turn out so well. I got busy doing something else and noticed Eli had taken it apart and put the pieces, one by one into the trash. Good call, Elijah. We will try that one again one day soon!
